TypeGuard Privacy Policy

Overview

TypeGuard is a local macOS input source controller by KernelBeam. It is designed to keep the right keyboard input source ready for each app without reading what you type.

Data Collection

TypeGuard does not collect, upload, sell, or share your keystrokes, typed content, documents, messages, app usage history, rule history, input source choices, or local settings.

TypeGuard does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking SDKs, external AI services, cloud sync, or account systems in the current version.

Data Stored On Your Mac

TypeGuard stores rules, app names, bundle identifiers, input source identifiers, HUD preferences, launch preferences, and related settings locally on your Mac.

You can edit or delete rules inside the app. Removing the app and its local Application Support data removes TypeGuard settings from your Mac.

Active App Detection

TypeGuard uses standard macOS workspace APIs to detect which app is active so it can evaluate your local rules. It does not inspect the content inside that app.

Input Source Switching

TypeGuard uses macOS Text Input Source APIs to list and switch enabled input sources. It stores input source identifiers only so your rules can work after restart.

Keyboard Content

TypeGuard does not read, record, store, analyze, or upload keystrokes or typed text. It is not a keylogger.

Permissions

The core TypeGuard workflow is designed to work without Input Monitoring, Screen Recording, microphone, camera, contacts, calendar, location, or Full Disk Access permissions.

Purchases

TypeGuard is sold as a paid Mac App Store app. Payment processing, refunds, billing, and Apple account purchase history are handled by Apple. TypeGuard does not receive or store your payment card details.

Network Access

The core input source switching workflow does not require a KernelBeam account or KernelBeam server. If you open support, privacy, terms, or feedback links, those links open in your browser.
