About CSVGuard

Inspect CSV or TSV structure and spreadsheet-risk values on your Mac, then export a report to a destination you choose.

Please include your macOS version, CSVGuard version, and the steps that led to the issue. Please do not attach a CSV file or report to a support email unless it is necessary. A support email contains the address and information you choose to send.

Common questions

Why is the delimiter marked as ambiguous?

CSVGuard does not choose silently when the sample does not point to one delimiter. Select comma, semicolon, or tab before scanning.

Why will this file not open?

CSVGuard accepts UTF-8 and UTF-8 with BOM and has a 50 MB MVP limit. An undecodable file or a larger file must be saved in a supported form before scanning.

What does an incomplete quote mean?

The parser found an unclosed or unrecoverable quoted field. Earlier completed records remain available; later row structure is not guessed. Review the source or choose a delimiter.

Why could the report not be saved?

Choose a writable destination in the Save panel and try again. A cancelled or failed save does not change the source file.

Purchases and restore

Connect your Mac to the internet, sign in to the Apple Account used for the purchase, then choose Restore Purchases in CSVGuard. Apple StoreKit checks the transaction and refreshes the entitlement. If it still does not appear, reopen the app and try Restore Purchases again. Apple handles billing and refund requests.

System requirements

Requires macOS 14 or later. An internet connection is needed for Apple StoreKit purchase and restoration services.
