WriteTrail Privacy Policy

Overview

WriteTrail does not collect data in this initial release. The app does not send learning or product-use events off your device. You can use WriteTrail without a KernelBeam account.

Data stored on your device

WriteTrail stores learning progress, completed practice records, saved writing samples, and app preferences in its local app storage. Progress and completed samples are kept in an on-device SQLite database; handwriting checkpoints are kept in the app’s files. These records are used to resume lessons and show your saved work.

Handwriting and learning progress

When you write, the app processes your strokes on your device. A saved practice sample can include the Chinese text and the stroke-point data needed to redraw your writing. The app does not send your handwriting, lesson history, or progress to KernelBeam in the current release.

Analytics and network use

Learning events are queued only in an on-device SQLite database, which holds at most 2,000 events. This version does not send events off your device. If remote sending is enabled in a future release, we will first update this policy and the App Store privacy label.

Purchases and Apple services

Purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit 2. KernelBeam does not receive transaction data. App Store Server Notifications (ASSN) are not configured for this app. Apple handles payment and account information under Apple’s own privacy terms.

Retention and deletion

The SQLite event queue keeps at most the 2,000 most recent events and deletes queued events after acknowledgement. Older events are removed when the queue reaches its limit.

This version sends no events to a server, so there is no remote event retention period. The local event queue has no age-based expiration configured.
